Institutional delegation in conversation along a corridor

Leadership

A lean, evolutive architecture functions first, appointments as the work grows.

The principle

How AfriCore is organised.

AfriCore has a lean institutional structure, supported by strong governance, professional operational management and access to a global network of specialised expertise. Some functions are to be filled, and others will be created or strengthened as activity grows. The aim is a credible, professional, international house that remains agile.

Leadership & governance

Strategic stewardship. Operational management.

The principal levels of governance. Names and profiles are published when they are appointed.

  • Founder & Non-Executive Director

Provides strategic direction, institutional stewardship and senior advisory insight, while remaining independent from AfriCore’s day-to-day operational management.

  • Board of Directors

Provides overall governance, oversight and institutional stewardship, ensuring that AfriCore’s strategic direction, professional standards and long-term development remain aligned with its mission and values.

  • Director of Operations

Leads AfriCore’s day-to-day management and operational delivery, including client engagement, contracting, assignment coordination and organisational administration.

Light coordination

Executive Committee and Advisory Board.

Mechanisms of coordination and independent advice not a second bureaucracy. Members will be identified as AfriCore takes shape.

  • Executive Committee

Supports executive coordination across AfriCore’s activities, facilitating the implementation of strategic priorities, cross-platform collaboration and organisational performance.

  • Advisory Board

Provides independent strategic perspectives, experience and guidance, while contributing to AfriCore’s institutional credibility, thought leadership and international reach. The Advisory Board does not participate in day-to-day management.

Institutional platforms

Four complementary expressions of the mission.

AfriCore is designed as a flexible and evolving institutional platform. Over time, the organisation will progressively develop four complementary platforms, creating an integrated ecosystem for strategic advisory, research, leadership development and high-level dialogue. This progressive model allows AfriCore to build institutional depth and credibility while remaining agile and responsive to the needs of its partners. They are not four departments with a heavy administrative structure.

  • AfriCore Advisory

Provides strategic advisory and institutional support to governments, international organisations, development partners, businesses and civil society organisations facing complex challenges and transformation priorities.

  • AfriCore Institute

Produces research, policy analysis, strategic foresight and knowledge products designed to inform decision-making and deepen understanding of Africa’s evolving political, institutional and development landscape.

  • AfriCore Leadership Academy

Provides executive education, leadership development and capacity-building programmes for public and private sector leaders navigating complex institutional and strategic environments.

  • AfriCore Strategic Forum

Convenes leaders, experts, researchers and international partners through high-level dialogues, forums, conferences and communities of practice focused on strategic issues affecting Africa and the wider international system.

Global Expert Network
